During the month of October we will be
1. continue working on pre-reading skills: 
rhyming words, 
clapping syllables,
visual discrimination,
auditory discrimination,
noticing the differences between a letter and a word,
noticing the direction used when reading a book,
singing songs and reciting poems
2. continuing the Synthetic Phonics program:
learning the letter sounds for 
o, c, g, h, u, b, v, w, k, y, j, z

introducing Star Words
I, my, the, to
3. listening to stories read to us every day
4. using puppets to create our own stories:
Please encourage your child to retell The Three Billy Goats Gruff story to you. Puppets are in the Friday Folder today.

5. Beginning to focus on writing sentences using capital letters, finger spaces between words and full stops at the end of sentences.
